Nick decides to meet the Italian detective, who had prepared the Simon Elder dossier, to find more about his father’s death. He plans to take his wife Lisa along with him so he can spend more time with her. Meanwhile, Letitia tells Tripp about the affair she had with Nick’s father and a seemingly heartbroken Tripp tells his wife that he wants to ensure that he is the biological father of all his children.
Nick’s plans of appeasing Lisa by taking her with him to Italy are ruined when he has to bear the uninvited company of Karen and Freddy. On their arrival in Italy, Lisa learns about the former relationship between Nick and Karen. Nick feeling guilty about not having told Lisa about the relationship runs after her when she leaves the lunch table.
Brian Jr. seeks his father’s help when he has some problems with the school bully, who turns out to be a girl. Back in Italy, Nick meets the detective who tells him that his father used to regularly meet a man named “C”. As the episode end, Nick boards the plane back home with still angry Lisa and no additional information about his father’s murderer.
